How to Have Practices That Maintain Interest and Avoid Those That Don’t

If you an unhappy, or suffering in another way, maintaining interest in fitness becomes tough. They can be situations that affect everybody at one time of another, or ones particular to you.

Here are some of the more common ones to avoid:

1. Avoid working out when you don’t feel good. If you are ill and try to do your usual exercise, performing at your typical level is unlikely. In addition, you are probably not at peak mental fitness either. Carelessness due to your weakened state could cause you to injure yourself.

2. Avoid working out when you are exhausted. Again, maintaining your usual exercise level will be improbable. Your will be unfocused mentally. You strength will be sapped. Possible injury is an issue.

3. Avoid habits that are not considered healthful. Smoking cigarettes or cigars certainly falls in this category. But so does smoking pot. Taking any other drug, unless prescribed, can also cause long term problems. Some coffee is fine. Living on caffeine or another stimulant isn’t.

4. Stop working out before you reach physical or mental exhaustion. If you reach either state. Your form deteriorates and injuries become more likely due to physical or mental lapses.

There are times that extreme athletes can work to physical exhaustion. Even in their cases, that is not their usual practice. It is only when a competition is near.

5. Perform the exercises that require the least effort first. You can do the easier exercises first and get them out of the way before tackling the ones that give you more difficulty. You ensure you will complete all of the exercises in your usual routine. Doing the toughest ones first can increase the possibility of not finishing your workout. The easier exercises become more difficult or even impossible if you have nothing left.

6. Don’t workout under conditions that generate anxiety or dislike. If you are anxious to get done quickly to make an appointment, making an error and creating an injury is possible. Being stuck with a workout partner who gets on your nerves is not helpful either. Move away from that person in the gym, or, if impossible, postpone your exercise to a later time if you can.
