Yes – the clothing we wear influences our behavior and the way we think and act. But that’s not the only reason you should be choosing the right athletic clothing. Proper attire is a must for workouts because it also allows the right amount of movement to perform the exercise correctly and comfortably.

Step 1 – Choose fabric that allows wicking

Buy synthetic fiber that allows your skin to breath and draws sweat away from your skin. This will help your body keep cool while you exercise. If the workout you are going to do won’t make you sweat a lot, then go for cotton. Cotton is soft, comfortable, and works well for light workouts such as walking and stretching; however if cotton gets sweaty, it will feel heavy and tend to cling to your body.

Depending on the kind of the personal style you prefer, you may choose clothing that is either lose and covers most of your body, or wear fitted outfits that allow you to see your muscles and curves as you exercise.

You may even feel the need to wear multiple layers during fall and spring, especially if you are working out during early mornings or late evenings. Wearing clothing in layer will help you easily discard as your body temperature heats up during your workout.

Women should look for good sports bras that provide support and flexibility, while men should buy a protective cup to keep them safe while playing contact sports as part of their workouts.
